Qolsys IQ Panel alerts: low battery, tamper, supervision, and connectivity

Updated

Short answer

IQ panels show troubles as alerts in the status area at the top of the screen. Open the alert to see which sensor or system part is involved. The common ones are a sensor low battery, a tamper (a cover is open), a supervision loss (the panel has not heard from a sensor), AC power, and cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity. Fix the cause, then acknowledge the alert on the panel or in the app.

Which IQ do you have?

  • IQ Panel 2 / IQ Panel 2 Plus: earlier touchscreen panels. The Plus added PowerG wireless.
  • IQ Panel 4: touchscreen with built-in PowerG wireless. See the IQ Panel 4 page.
  • IQ Panel 5, IQ Hub, and IQ Pro: newer models. See the IQ Panel 5, IQ Hub, and IQ Pro pages for what each supports.

Common alerts and fixes

AlertWhat it meansFix
Low battery (sensor)A wireless sensor's battery is weakReplace it with the same type. See sensor low battery.
TamperA sensor or panel cover is openSnap the cover shut; check the panel is seated on its back plate or stand.
Supervision / loss of signalThe panel has not heard from a sensor for too longBattery, distance, or a sensor moved. Trigger the sensor; re-learn it if it stays missing.
AC powerThe panel lost mains powerCheck the power supply and outlet. See power outages.
Panel battery lowThe panel's internal battery is weakLeave it on AC to charge; replace the internal pack if it keeps happening.
Cellular / communicationThe panel cannot reach the monitoring platform over cellularCheck signal strength on the panel; ask your dealer to confirm the account is active. See communication failure.
Wi-Fi disconnectedThe panel lost its Wi-Fi networkReconnect from the panel's Wi-Fi settings after a router or password change.

PowerG vs S-Line sensors

Qolsys sells two wireless sensor families, and the panel has to support the one you buy:

  • PowerG (product names ending in PG, such as the IQ Keypad PG): encrypted, longer range, two-way. Supported on IQ Panel 2 Plus, IQ Panel 4, and newer panels.
  • S-Line (names ending in -S, such as the IQ Motion-S): Qolsys's encrypted 319.5 MHz sensors.

Check your panel's supported radios before ordering, especially if you are adding sensors to an older IQ Panel 2.

Secondary keypads and remotes

The IQ Remote and IQ Remote PowerG are secondary touchscreens that mirror the panel. If one shows offline while the main panel is fine, check its power and its connection to the panel (Wi-Fi or PowerG, depending on model).

Codes and settings

Factory defaults are installer 1111, dealer 2222, and master user 1234. Advanced settings require the installer or dealer code. See installer and master codes. To bypass a sensor, see bypassing a zone.
