Overview

The VISTA-128BPT is Honeywell's (now Resideo's) partitioned panel for light commercial buildings and large homes. It sits above the VISTA-20P and VISTA-21iP, adding many more zones, eight independent partitions, scheduling and access control integration. The VISTA-128BPTSIA is the version for installs that must meet the SIA CP-01 false-alarm standard, and the VISTA-250BPT is the larger sibling.

At a glance

ZonesUp to 128: 9 hardwired on the board, up to 119 on the V-Plex polling loop, up to 127 wireless (fewer when wired zones are used)
Partitions8, plus a common lobby option and a master partition (9) for keypads that view all partitions
Users150 codes with seven authority levels
Event log512 events
OutputsUp to 96 programmable outputs

Troubleshooting

Communication trouble

If the panel reported over a phone line that has gone, add an AlarmNet communicator. The LTE models (for example LTE-XA) and IP communicators connect to the keypad bus. See VISTA LTE communicators and communication failure.

"Check" messages on zones

A VISTA shows CHECK with a zone number when a zone has a wiring fault, a supervised device stops responding, or a wireless sensor misses check-ins. On a V-Plex zone, it often means a loop problem, so check loop voltage and current before replacing devices. See VISTA check messages.

Smoke detector won't reset

Enter a user code plus 1 (OFF) twice to reset smoke detectors on the zone 1 smoke loop. If the trouble returns at once, the loop wiring or a detector is faulty.

Compatible Peripherals

  • Keypads: 6160, 6160RF (with wireless receiver), 6160V (talking), 6290W and Tuxedo touchscreens.
  • Zone expansion: 4208U; V-Plex 4208SN and 4208EX.
  • Wireless receivers: 5881ENHC commercial receiver, other 5881 models, 5883H.
  • Communicators: AlarmNet LTE and IP communicators, such as the LTE-XA.
  • Access control: VISTAKEY starter and expansion kits.

Installation Notes

Entering programming

  1. From an alphanumeric keypad (such as the 6160), enter the installer code followed by 8 0 0 0. The factory installer code is 4140, so the default sequence is 4140 8 000.
  2. Use the field numbers and menu modes (for example #93 for menu mode, where zones and devices are programmed) as described in the installation guide.
  3. Press *99 to exit programming.

The VISTA-128BPT's installer code differs from the 4112 used on the VISTA-20P and 21iP. If 4140 doesn't work, the installer changed it, or the panel has an installer lockout. See VISTA installer programming.

Planning expansion

  • V-Plex polling loop: addressable devices (4208SN, 4193SN, 4190SN, 4101SN, V-Plex sensors) on a two-wire loop, up to 119 zones. Total loop current up to 128 mA, and up to 12,000 ft of wiring. Long or heavily loaded loops can use a 4297 extender or VSI isolation module.
  • Keypad (ECP) bus: keypads, 4204 relay modules, wireless receivers and communicators.
  • Wireless: no more than two 5800-series receivers. Every wired or V-Plex zone you use reduces the wireless zones left.
  • Touchscreens: up to six touchscreen (AUI) devices, such as the 6290W or Tuxedo.

Partitions

Every zone and keypad belongs to one partition. Keypads assigned to partition 9 (master) show all eight partitions at once. The common lobby partition can arm automatically when the last partition sharing it arms, and disarm when the first one disarms. That suits shared entrances in multi-tenant buildings.

FAQs

What is the default installer code on a VISTA-128BPT?

4140. Enter it followed by 8 0 0 0 to start programming, and *99 to exit.

What is the difference between the VISTA-128BPT and VISTA-128BPTSIA?

The SIA version is the part to order where the install must meet the ANSI/SIA CP-01 false-alarm standard. Features and capacity are the same.

Can a VISTA-128BPT use wireless sensors?

Yes, Honeywell 5800-series sensors through up to two 5800 receivers (or 6160RF keypads), for up to 127 wireless zones.
