Overview
The DSC MAXSYS PC4020 is a commercial control platform with 16 on-board supervised zones, expandable to 128 zones through Combus modules, two addressable detection loops, and wireless receivers. It integrates burglary, access control, automation, and residential fire functions in one panel programmed primarily through DLS2002+ and LCD4500/LCD4501 keypads.

What the PC4020 Does Well
MAXSYS targets mid-market commercial and high-end residential: retailers, schools, industrial sites, and multi-partition buildings. Combus simplifies expansion without reworking the core panel. Addressable loops cut wire home runs for large floors. Integrated access control shares user codes and partitions with intrusion. T-Link TL-250/TL-300 IP reporting rides existing LAN infrastructure with AES encryption options.
Before You Service or Replace One
- Confirm PC4020 vs PC4020CF (commercial fire)—fire programming and loops differ.
- Inventory Combus module map (PC41xx, PC4216, PC4204, PC4820, PC4850, PC4702) before swapping the board.
- Run diagnostics ref
[04]to identify E (comms), T (tamper), or LV (low voltage) faults by module number. - MAXSYS is not PowerSeries Keybus—PK5500/RF5132 parts do not apply.
- Use Battery Standby Calculation Chart (DSC part 29003350) for listed standby times.
- Factory default
[0402]wipes all programming—only within first 10 minutes after power-up.

Error Codes
MAXSYS troubles appear at LCD4500/LCD4501 keypads. The panel beeps every 10 seconds when a trouble is active. Press [#] to silence beeping. Press **[*, 2] to view troubles; use arrow keys** to scroll multiple conditions.
Keypad Trouble Display
| Display | Meaning | Typical cause |
|---|---|---|
| Battery Trouble | Panel battery low | Aged battery, charging fault, undersized battery |
| AC Trouble | AC loss (keypad silent on some configs) | Breaker, transformer, power outage |
| Aux Supply Troub | AUX, SAUX+, or PGM overload | Too many devices on auxiliary outputs |
| TLM Trouble | Telephone line fault | Line disconnected, wiring, RJ-31X seizure |
| TLM TBL Line #1 / #2 | Phone line trouble on PC4701 fire module | Fire phone line supervision |
| FTC Trouble | Failure to communicate | Wrong phone/IP path, format, or account |
| Bell CCT Trouble | Bell circuit open | Wiring break, unused output not terminated |
| Fire Trouble | Fire loop open | Open fire zone; audible until restored |
| Alt. Comms AC / Battery / FTC | Alternate communicator faults | IP/cellular module power or registration |
| T-Link Network Fault | T-Link cannot reach network | LAN, firewall, receiver path |
| T-Link Receiver Trouble | T-Link cannot reach TCP/IP receiver | Receiver down, wrong IP |
| Seismic Trouble | Seismic zone failed test | PGM seismic programming, sensor fault |
| Module / zone troubles | Zone fault, tamper, module loss | See diagnostics [04] and zone status |
