Overview
The DMP XT30 and XT50 are Digital Monitoring Products' residential and small-business panels, the smaller siblings of the XR150 / XR550. Both use the same board layout, wiring and programming menus, so one page covers both. The XT50 adds capacity and built-in wireless zones. Installation and service go through a DMP dealer, and owners usually control the system with the Virtual Keypad app.
XT30 vs XT50
| XT30 | XT50 | |
|---|---|---|
| Total zones | 42 | 58 |
| Areas | 6 | 8 |
| User codes | 30 | 99 |
| Built-in wireless zones | No (uses an external 1100 series receiver) | 16 extra on-board wireless zones (80 and 85–99) |
From DMP's XT30/XT50 programming and installation guides (LT-0981, LT-0980).
Shared hardware
- On-board zones: nine burglary zones (1–9, 1k or 2.2k ohm end-of-line) and one powered fire zone with reset (zone 10) for 2-wire smoke detectors.
- Keypad bus: up to eight supervised keypads, seven of which can be wireless. Keypad addresses 1–8 also carry expander zones 11–14, 21–24 … 81–84.
- Communication: built-in network (Ethernet) and phone dialer to DMP receivers; plug-in 263LTE cellular (Verizon or AT&T) or 263LTE-2 (both); optional 763 Wi-Fi module.
- Outputs: 12 V DC bell output (1.5 A) and four open-collector outputs (50 mA each; needs a Model 300 harness).
- Power: 16.5 V AC 40 VA plug-in transformer (Model 321); 12 V DC auxiliary power up to 500 mA. Replace the standby battery every 3 to 5 years.
The XT75 is DMP's newer panel in the XT line.
Error Codes
DMP keypads show plain-text messages:
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
AC TROUBLE | Mains power is low or missing | Check the transformer is plugged in and the outlet works |
BATTERY TROUBLE | Standby battery low or missing | Check the battery connections; replace a battery older than 3–5 years |
TRANSMIT FAIL | Repeated attempts to reach the central station failed | Check the communication path (cellular, network or phone line) and the account programming |
SYSTEM BUSY | The panel is busy with a higher-priority task or remote programming | Wait; make sure the RESET jumper isn't left on |
INVALID CODE | The code isn't recognized | Re-enter it; check with the master user |
CLOSING TIME | The system wasn't armed at its scheduled closing time | Arm, or extend the schedule |
See the XR150 / XR550 page for more DMP messages (4-WIRE BUS TRBL, WIRELESS TRBL, NON POLLED ADDR); they mean the same on XT panels.
Troubleshooting
Keypad problems
- Keypad dead, power LED off: connect AC and the battery, and check the keypad wiring on terminals 7–10.
- Keypad beeps but won't arm, disarm or open the menu: two keypads share an address, or more than eight devices are addressed. Give each keypad its own address.
- Missed keystrokes or a display that doesn't update: the wire run is too long or too thin. Use heavier wire, or add a power supply near the keypad.
Panel LEDs
- OVC (overcurrent) LED red: too much is drawn from auxiliary power, which is 500 mA maximum. Move devices to an auxiliary supply.
- Wireless TX LED off: the wireless house code isn't programmed (System Options).
- Wireless RX LED never flashes: transmitters aren't reaching the receiver. Check serial numbers and move the transmitter closer.
- TX and RX both on steady: the panel is held in reset or flash-load. Remove the RESET or LOAD jumper.
Battery trouble after a new battery
The panel tests the battery under load periodically. A new battery that isn't fully charged can show trouble until it charges. Let it charge, and check the connections before replacing anything else.
Compatible Peripherals
- Keypads: DMP Thinline and Aqualite alphanumeric keypads, graphic touchscreens, and 9000 series wireless keypads.
- Zone expansion: 711 single-zone, 714-8 and 714-16 expanders; 710 bus splitter/repeater for keypad runs up to 2,500 ft.
- Wireless: 1100 series receivers such as the 1100DH (XT30) and 1100 series transmitters; 1144 key fobs.
- Communication: 263LTE cellular, 763 Wi-Fi.
Installation Notes
Entering the programmer
- Put the jumper across both RESET pins for two seconds, then move it back to one pin.
- At a keypad, enter
6653(PROG). The keypad shows PROGRAMMER. - Press CMD to step through the programming sections, and choose STOP to save and exit.
Programming must start within 30 minutes of a reset, otherwise the keypad asks you to reset the panel. A dealer can set a lockout code. DMP warns that a lost lockout code means the panel goes back to DMP. You can also program with Dealer Admin.
Default user code
Current XT30/XT50 panels ship with a unique four-digit master code for first access to the user menu. Panels made before 2020 used 99. Initializing user codes in programming sets the code back to 99: on user 30 on the XT30, and on user 99 on the XT50.
Planning
- Keypad bus devices: no more than eight addresses.
- Check the auxiliary load against the 500 mA limit before adding keypads and expanders.
- The cellular module needs panel firmware version 212 or later (version 242 or later for the 263LTE-2).
FAQs
What is the default code on a DMP XT30 or XT50?
Panels made from 2020 have a unique master code printed on the box. Older panels used 99. The installer programmer is reached with 6653 after a reset, unless the dealer set a lockout code.
What is the difference between the XT30 and XT50?
The XT50 has more capacity (58 zones, 8 areas, 99 users against 42, 6 and 30) and built-in wireless zones. Programming and wiring are the same.
