Overview
The Arlo SmartHub (VMB4540, VMB5000) connects Arlo Pro/Ultra/Essential wire-free cameras to Wi-Fi, extends battery life, and can store clips on local USB storage.
The SmartHub links wire-free Arlo cameras to your router, can improve battery life, and supports optional local USB storage for recordings. It is not the Arlo Home Security alarm hub — Z-Wave alarm sensors require the separate Home Security hub.

Before You Service or Replace One
- Model — VMB4540 vs VMB5000 — camera generation compatibility differs.
- USB storage — verify format and capacity limits before relying on local clips.
- Wi-Fi band — hub connects cameras to router; place for strong router signal.
- Firmware — update SmartHub and paired cameras after major app updates.
