Overview
The ADT Smart Home Hub and Security System Base power ADT Self-Setup and Blue by ADT DIY systems — battery wireless sensors, Z-Wave automation, and the ADT+ app for arming, notifications, and optional professional monitoring.
The panel or hub is the center of your ADT system: arming state, wireless sensor supervision, local siren, and communication to ADT for app notifications and professional monitoring all flow through it. Cameras and doorbells appear in the ADT+ or ADT Control app but intrusion sensors require a compatible Command panel or Self-Setup hub.
Self-Setup / Blue by ADT systems are app-first (ADT+). ADT Command panels also use the ADT Control app but may require installer/dealer programming for zones, dialer, and advanced options.

See summary above — the panel/hub coordinates arming, wireless supervision, local siren, and cloud connectivity for the entire ADT location.
Before You Service or Replace One
- Exact platform — ADT Command (SiX) vs Self-Setup hub (ADT+) — sensors are not interchangeable without verification.
- Location in app — devices belong to an ADT account/location; swapping hubs may require re-enrollment.
- Monitoring account — ADT professional monitoring status, permits, and emergency contacts.
- Network — Wi-Fi credentials, cellular module (CellBridge), and ISP outage history.
- Accessory mix — confirm Command vs Self-Setup compatibility in help.adt.com before ordering replacements.
