Overview

ADT Command is ADT's touchscreen security and automation panel — wireless SiX sensors, Z-Wave home automation, Wi-Fi/cellular paths to Alarm.com, and the ADT Control mobile app for arming, video, and smart-home rules.

The panel or hub is the center of your ADT system: arming state, wireless sensor supervision, local siren, and communication to ADT for app notifications and professional monitoring all flow through it. Cameras and doorbells appear in the ADT+ or ADT Control app but intrusion sensors require a compatible Command panel or Self-Setup hub.

Self-Setup / Blue by ADT systems are app-first (ADT+). ADT Command panels also use the ADT Control app but may require installer/dealer programming for zones, dialer, and advanced options.

What This Hub Does Well

See summary above — the panel/hub coordinates arming, wireless supervision, local siren, and cloud connectivity for the entire ADT location.

Before You Service or Replace One

  • Exact platformADT Command (SiX) vs Self-Setup hub (ADT+) — sensors are not interchangeable without verification.
  • Location in app — devices belong to an ADT account/location; swapping hubs may require re-enrollment.
  • Monitoring account — ADT professional monitoring status, permits, and emergency contacts.
  • Network — Wi-Fi credentials, cellular module (CellBridge), and ISP outage history.
  • Accessory mix — confirm Command vs Self-Setup compatibility in help.adt.com before ordering replacements.

Installation Notes

Follow ADT Command quick guides and help.adt.com Command articles and the official support links in this product folder for mounting, power, and enrollment.

Pre-install checklist

  • Verify Command vs Self-Setup vs camera/doorbell product line — wrong category cannot enroll on hub.
  • Confirm ADT+ or ADT Control app on latest version; owner account available for setup.
  • Plan device name and room in app for service clarity.
  • For monitored locations: verify alarm permit and emergency contact list current.
  • Have replacement batteries or transformer spec confirmed before truck roll.

Typical install sequence

  1. Set up Command panel / Self-Setup hub first if this is an alarm Z-Wave device.
  2. Mount hardware per official template — drill, adhesive, or screw as specified.
  3. Insert battery / connect power; remove pull tab if present.
  4. Add Device in ADT+ or ADT Control app; scan QR or follow in-app prompts.
  5. Complete placement test (motion, contact gap, outdoor comm test) at final location.
  6. Arm/disarm test or Live View test; confirm events in app history.

ADT Command panel placement

  • Mount panel central to SiX sensor layout — not buried in basement if sensors are upstairs.
  • Route LTE/cellular antenna per module guide when CellBridge or built-in cell is used.
  • Connect AC power before enrolling many sensors; verify backup battery charges.
  • Complete dealer/installer programming (zones, dialer, automation) before user handoff.
