Overview
The Ring Alarm Keypad lets you arm and disarm Ring Alarm by code, without the app. It switches between Disarmed, Away and Home, and the 2nd-gen keypad adds one-touch emergency buttons. It connects to the base station over Z-Wave, runs on a rechargeable battery, and can stay plugged in.

Error Codes
Battery and network lights
| Light | Meaning |

| Network light solid red | Can't communicate with the base station |
The network light only comes on during pairing or to show an error.
Troubleshooting
Battery runs down quickly
The keypad has three light modes in the Ring app:
- always lit while plugged in
- lit when it detects motion
- lit only when a button is pressed (the most battery-friendly)
Unplugged, the "always lit" mode falls back to motion, to save power. Keeping it plugged in avoids the problem entirely.
Network light solid red
The keypad has lost contact with the base station. Check the base station is online, move the keypad closer, or add a range extender. See Ring base station offline.
Emergency buttons
The police, fire and medical buttons always sound the siren on the base station (and any outdoor siren). Notifying emergency contacts or the monitoring center requires a Ring Protect plan with professional monitoring.

Installation Notes
- Add it in the Ring app near the base station, then mount it by the door you use most.
- Use the quick-release wall bracket so you can lift it off to charge, or leave it plugged into a nearby outlet.
- Set the codes for each person in the Ring app, not on the keypad.
