Honeywell Home 5869 Hold-Up Switch/Transmitter Installation Notes

Overview

5800 Series transmitter or takeover module — converts wired loops or specialized inputs to wireless 5800 zones (5817, 5817CBXT, 5821, etc.).

On Honeywell systems, wireless devices are supervised zones on the panel — tamper, low battery, and missing signals appear as trouble conditions that may block arming depending on panel programming.

What This Device Does Well

Provides reliable supervised status at the panel and Total Connect 2.0 when installed, enrolled, and range-tested correctly.

Before You Service or Replace One

  • Sensor SKU5800 Series one-way vs SiX two-way encrypted vs hardwired.
  • Panel online — resolve panel AC/cell trouble before blaming sensor.
  • Range5800RP repeater or move 5881EN/6160RF receiver path for distant zones.
  • Battery type — use listed cell; replace all batteries in multi-cell devices.
  • Tamper — cover fully closed before declaring hardware fault.

Installation Notes

Follow 5800 transmitter install guide and the official resource links in this product folder for mounting, wiring, and enrollment.

Pre-install checklist

  • Confirm panel model (VISTA/Lynx/ProSeries/Lyric) and encryption requirements.
  • Verify dealer cell account and module SKU before cell install.
  • Document installer code and existing zone map for takeover jobs.
  • Plan antenna routing (ANT5XL) when panel location has poor cell RSSI.
  • Have listed batteries and tools for sensor mounts before enrollment.

Typical install sequence

  1. Mount and power panel; apply firmware updates per dealer bulletin.
  2. Install cell module and run communication test / Total Connect 2.0 activation.
  3. Enroll wireless sensors via installer Learn mode; label zones.
  4. Include Z-Wave devices after excluding from any prior hub.
  5. Install 5800RP repeater or optimize receiver placement before fringe 5800 sensors.
  6. Run walk test, user code training, and central station test if monitored.

5800 transmitter wiring

  • Burglary loops only — do not wire fire or CO zones to takeover inputs.
  • Verify 12 V loop polarity and end-of-line configuration per module guide.
  • Label wireless zone numbers to match former wired zone map for user clarity.
