DSC PowerSeries Neo Control Panels

PowerSeries Neo is DSC's current hybrid panel line and the successor to the classic PC1616/PC1832/PC1864. Like those panels it takes hardwired zones on the board and wireless devices through a receiver, but its wireless is PowerG: encrypted, two-way, long-range, and supervised. The same PowerG devices are used by Qolsys and other partners.

Models

The model number is printed on the circuit board. Default installer code: 5555.

PowerG frequencies

PowerG device part numbers start with a region code: PG9 devices are 915 MHz for North America, PG8 are 868 MHz, and PG4 are 433 MHz. Buy the series that matches your panel's receiver.

Neo uses * 2 for troubles, like the classic PowerSeries, but LCD keypads describe each trouble in words and group them by category (service required, AC, communication, zone faults, device low battery, and so on). A PowerG device shows a trouble

PowerG devices report low battery, tamper, and supervision individually. Replace the battery with the type printed in the device, and check the panel's signal-strength reading for that device if supervision troubles repeat.

Coming from a classic PowerSeries panel

• Zone and user numbers are entered with more digits on Neo.
• The master code is user 01, not user 40.
• Classic PowerSeries keypads do not work on Neo; Neo uses its own HS2 keypads.

• Communicators: Neo LTE / internet dual-path communicator.
• Sensors: PowerG contacts, motion detectors, and life-safety devices such as the PG9975 door/window contact.

• Programming is * 8 + installer code. LCD keypads show section names, and DSC's DLS software is the faster route on larger systems.
• PowerG devices need a PowerG receiver: either a keypad with a built-in transceiver or a separate host transceiver module.
• Enroll PowerG devices with the panel nearby, then check the signal reading at the mounting spot before fixing them in place.
