Overview

The DSC PG9901 is a battery-powered PowerG wireless indoor siren. It adds a second siren in another part of the building without running wires back to the panel. It works with PowerG systems such as the PowerSeries Neo (with a PowerG receiver or RF keypad) and iotega. The model number's middle digit gives the frequency: PG9901 is 912–919 MHz for North America, PG8901 is 868 MHz and PG4901 is 433 MHz.

Troubleshooting

Testing it

The siren's own test button mainly confirms power and enrollment through its LED. To check it sounds, use the panel's bell/siren test. Put a monitored system on test with the monitoring company first.

Low battery

The panel reports the siren's low battery like any other PowerG device. Replace the battery pack with the correct DSC type. The pack plugs in with a connector; watch the polarity. Fitting the wrong battery type is a fire risk, according to DSC.

Siren didn't sound in an alarm

Check that it's enrolled and supervised (not showing a fault), that its battery is good, and that the panel is programmed to activate wireless sirens for that alarm type.

Compatible Peripherals

  • Panels: PowerSeries Neo with a PowerG transceiver (for example an HS2LCDRF9 keypad); iotega.
  • Other PowerG devices: PowerG door/window contacts, motion detectors and smoke detectors.

Installation Notes

Enrolling

  • Use the panel's PowerG enrollment: auto-enroll, or enter the device ID. The siren also has an enroll button. Your panel's installation manual (Neo or iotega) has the exact sections.
  • The 48-hour rule: a PowerG device that has been powered for more than 48 hours without being enrolled won't enroll until you trip its tamper and restore it. Open and close the cover, then enroll it.
  • Check its signal at the panel after mounting. Place it where it will be heard, such as an upstairs hallway, away from the panel's own siren.
