Overview

Troubleshooting
Batteries run down far sooner than two years
Blink's two-year figure assumes default settings. Battery life drops with:
- Lots of motion: a camera facing a busy street or swaying trees records constantly. Narrow the motion zones and lower the sensitivity.
- Long clips, live view and frequent retriggers: shorten clip length and add a retrigger delay.
- Cold weather: lithium AAs cope best, but very cold spells still shorten life.
- Weak connection: a camera struggling to reach the Sync Module or Wi-Fi uses more power.
- Wrong batteries: use 1.5 V lithium AAs, not alkaline or rechargeable.
For a busy spot, use the power adapter or the battery extension pack.
Camera offline
- Check the Sync Module first. If it's offline, every camera on it will be too; see Sync Module 2 troubleshooting.
- Replace the batteries, even if the app still shows them OK.
- Check the camera's signal to the Sync Module and to Wi-Fi in the app. Move the Sync Module closer, or move the camera.
- If it still won't connect, delete the camera in the app and add it again.
Red light at night
That's expected. The red LED shows the camera is recording with night vision.
Compatible Peripherals
- Sync modules: Sync Module 2, Sync Module XR.
- Power: Battery Extension Pack, weather-resistant power adapter.
- Mounts: Solar Panel Mount.
- Floodlight version: Outdoor 4 Floodlight Camera.
Installation Notes
- Set up the Sync Module first, then add the camera in the Blink app by scanning its QR code.
- Test the signal at the mounting spot before drilling.
- Mount it so the field of view covers where people approach, not a road or neighbor's yard; that also saves battery.
- Use 1.5 V lithium AA batteries.
